Basketball Historian Biography

Hot shooting Frank Baumholtz was a standout baseball player as well as an All-Conference basketball guard on the Ohio University team prior to playing one season in the NBA right after World War II, 1946-1947. For the Cleveland Cavaliers Frankie Baumholtz averaged a red-hot 14.2 points per game in this era of low scoring games.

Right after his one-year tenure in the NBA Frank Baumholtz joined the Cincinnati Reds of baseball's major leagues. He starred as a baseball player for almost 11 seasons, compiling a very fine .290 lifetime batting average.
