A hard-playing guard, Chauncey Billups was selected from the Colorado University basketball team by the Boston Celtics in the 1997 NBA Draft. As a rookie after playing in 51 games and averaging 11.08 points per game and 4.3 assists per game at Boston he was traded to the Toronto Raptors and finished his rookie campaign, 1997-98, on a high-note.
Gaining experience with playing time for Denver and Minneapolis, the 6 ft 3 inch Chauncey Billups joined Detroit and has been one of the leaders of the Pistons ever-since. General manager Joe Dumars says this about Billups ‘he achieves dribble penetration and ball reversal in half-court sets as well as anyone I’ve seen. And, he forces opponents to take quick shots.’
