Caron Butler was a standout basketball player at UCONN and was selected in the first round (10th pick overall) by the Miami Heat in the 2002 NBA draft. He had a remarkable rookie season, averaging 15.4 points per game for the last place Miami Heat, 25-57 w/l. The 6-ft, 7-inch forward was traded to the LA Lakers in 2004-05 and put up numbers of 15.52 points per game.
Playing for the Washington Wizards starting in 2005-06, Caron Butler took over the role of small forward and has improved his offensive numbers - notching a career-best 19.1 ppg in his second season with the Wizards. On November 16, 2007 Caron Butler scored a season-best 29 points in helping Washington defeat the Minnesota T'wolves 105-89. Caron Butler hit on 11-of-16 field goals and 6-of-8 free throws.
