Harvey Grant played a major role in the success of the University of Oklahoma during the 1988-1989 campaign. Guided by head coach Billy Tubbs the Sooners set a NCAA Division 1 record for points scored in a season. Playing forward Harvey Grant averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds for the 1988-89 Oklahoma team.
Harvey Grant, the twin brother of Horace, played his first five seasons in the NBA, 1989 thru 1992-1993 with the Washington Warriors. He scored over 18 points per game three straight seasons, 18.2 ppg in 1990-91, 18.0 ppg in 1991-92 and 18.6 ppg in 1992-93.
Traded to Portland prior to 1993 season, the 6 ft 8, 195 pound forward switched to a more defense-orientated style of play, and helped the Trail Blazers make the playoffs three straight seasons. Also played in playoffs with Washington in 1997 and with Philadelphia in 1999.
