Basketball Historian Biography

An exciting player for fans to watch, Ronnie Lester was the heart-and-soul of the Iowa Hawkeyes College team during the late 1970s. A two-time All Big Ten college selection, He was quick-as-mercury and the floor general for the Iowa Hawkeyes which took 4th place honors in the 1980 NCAA Final Four Games. Ronnie Lester was voted three times the Iowa MVP and led the team in scoring twice. 

 

Drafted Number 10 in the first round of the NBA draft Ronnie Lester made the Chicago Bulls starting lineup in his 2nd NBA season, 1981-1982, and scored 870 points in 75 games with 362 assists, 4.8 assists per game, with 80 steals. His hustling defensive play set well with fans and Ronnie Lester rated high on their list wherever he play.

 

Ronnie Lester played 14 NBA playoff games, including 9 playoff games with the 1984 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers in 1984-85. Ronnie Lester NBA stats: 1,816 points, 7.3 ppg in 250 games, 1,003 assists, 187 steals, 473 rebounds.
