Basketball Historian Biography

A scoring threat whenever he posted up with the ball, Roy Hinson was also able to answer most challenges from opposing players. A standout basketball center at Rutgers University, he was the 20th player selection in the 1st round of the 1983 NBA draft (by the Cleveland Cavaliers).

Although Roy Hinson played just twice in the playoffs, he was a well-regarded starter on the three NBA teams he played with. In the regular seasons of his 8-year NBA career he notched 14.2 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game in 507 games. His remarkable .499 career field goal percentage rates among the top 10 % of players in NBA history - 2,776 FGM in 5,568 FGA. He compiled 3,452 rebounds, averaging 6.8 rpg, had 306 steals and 882 block shots.
