Sidney Moncrief
Guard 6 ft 3 inches, 180 lbs, Milwaukee Bucks 1979-1989, Atlanta Hawks 1990-1991

The swift playing Sidney Moncrief excelled on defense at the guard position during the 1980s. After starring at Hall High School in Little Rock Sidney Moncrief made All American honors at Arkansas U before being

drafted as the 5th pick in the 1979 NBA college draft. With the Arkansas Razorbacks he led the nation with a torrid .665 field goal pct, as a freshman. During his senior colligate season 1978-1979, Sidney Moncrief had a ‘dream season,’ averaging 22 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Paced by Sidney Moncrief all-around efforts the Milwaukee Bucks won at least 49 games for 8 straight seasons, 1980-1987. A five time NBA All Star he had a 15.6 points per game average during his 11-year NBA career. He was also chosen Defensive Player of the Season in 1983 and 1984 and voted

to the NBA first team All Defense every season from 1983 thru 1986.

The 12th pick out of Notre Dame in the 1981 NBA college draft Kelly Tripucka delighted Pistons fans during the early 1980s with his high scoring and defensive skills. Kelly Tripucka scored a solid 1,772 points in 82 starts during his rookie NBA season, 1981, averaging a 21.6 points per game.

 

The next season, 1982-83, Kelly Tripucka averaged career-highs with 26.5 ppg, third highest in the NBA and with 4.1 assists per game. In 1984-85 he helped the Detroit Pistons reached the NBA playoffs the first time since the 1977 playoffs. This season Kelly Tripucka averaged 21.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg and 3.0 assists per game.

Cliff Robinson

A star player Cliff Robinson scored over 10,000 career points and pulled in over 5,000 rebounds in a stellar 12 year NBA career. He started over 29 games for 8 consecutive seasons, including three years of 70 starts or more. His most productive years were with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the early 1980s. Cliff Robinson played in

four NBA playoffs, including back-to-back years with the Washington Wizards, 1984-1986.

Jack Sikma

Jack Sikma was an All American with Illinois Wesleyan University in 1977 and was selected 8th in 1977 NBA draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. A noted rebounder Jack Sikma was in the Top 5 in the NBA in total rebounds from 1978-79 thru 1982-83, then placed 6th in 1983-84.

 

A defensive stalwart Jack Sikma led all NBA players in defensive rebounds with a career-high 815 in 1981-82 and with 686 in 1983-84. He reached career-highs in 1981-82 in steals with 102 and in blocked shots with 107.  A solid offensive scorer, too, Jack Sikma  averaged over 18 points per game from 1980-1981 thru 1984-85, and thru 14 NBA seasons compiled a 15.6 ppg.

 

Signed with the Milwaukee Bucks in 1986. Jack Sikma led the NBA in free throw percentage in 1987 when he made 321 of 348 attempts for a resounding .922 pct.

 

 


Leon Douglas
Center - Detroit Pistons 1976-1977 thru 1979-1980; Kansas City Kings 1980-1981 thru 1982-1983 - Star for Alabama University during mid-1970s

Leon Douglas was a marquee basketball player for Alabama University and was the first-ever Alabama U player to be selected either a first-or-second team Consensus NCAA All-American - 2nd team in 1974-1975.

The fourth player chosen in the 1976 NBA draft, Leon Douglas was held in high esteem by teammates and opponents alike for his play-hard-to-win attitude. An eight-year professional career was highlighted with two postseason NBA playoffs - scored 55 points and had 75 rebounds in 18 games... Detroit Pistons 3 games in 1976-77 and Kansas City Kings 15 games in 1980-1981.

Leon Douglas NBA stats: 3587 points in 456 games, 7.9 points per game, 1386 FGM, 2798 FGA, a very solid .495 percentage, 2954 rebounds, 6.5 rpg average, 479 assistys, 210 steals, 325 blocked shots, 656 turnovers.
